About the Author:
Clarisse Tate
Like many of you I grew up reading classics by Austen, Bronte, Eyre, Victoria Holt, Phyllis Whitney and Barbara Cartland. As I matured, I realized love is a universal language...it knows no time or age, is not dependent upon economics or location and can carry each of us through the most difficult periods of life.
When my youngest child started school, I chose to work in their elementary school and soon found myself volunteering in the library...no surprise there. Having found my niche, I stayed and moved up with them to their high school, which I'm happy to say was a wonderful experience for all of us. It has now been almost 20 years that I have worked in the high school environment and I can honestly say it has been an amazing learning experience. How can it not be wonderful to be surrounded by books of every kind; by young people who are discovering the power that words have in forming or even changing their perception of life and love, who become so excited to find there are books they like and authors that understand who they are and what kinds of challenges they are facing. It was because of these things that I decided to put pen to paper, or more accurately, fingers to a keyboard, and began to finish a project I had started about 25 years ago when my children were small.
As a young mother I decided to attempt to write a book. But with four little children, time to escape into a place devoid of diapers, of countless meals needing to be prepared and serving as a taxi driver, nurse, etc.... I soon gave up. There simply was not enough time in the day to devote to writing, or, if I managed to find the time, there was no energy remaining, Instead of writing a book I just wanted to curl up with one. Slow forward to the present and I now have not only time, but lots of it. My children are grown, meals come when I feel like it and I discovered a renewed desire to make an attempt to write once again.
The impetus for this change came when my younger sister, Ellise Weaver, started writing to help her through a battle with breast cancer. Through her difficult treatment and recovery, she found great comfort in storytelling and became my inspiration. She is finding success and fulfillment in this new role and I figured if she could do it with children still at home, and days when she could hardly crawl out of bed, then I had no reason not to make an honest attempt. (Check out her books!) She has been my greatest source of inspiration and assistance in this endeavor and I love her even more than ever before...which is saying a lot!
My life is blessed. I have a wonderful husband who continues to support and encourage me in all areas of my life. He is always willing to give me inspiration when it comes to my leading male characters and offers to practice bodice ripping and other romantic moves. (As you can imagine this often prevents my abilities to stay focused). Our four wonderful children have blessed us with ten beautiful and extremely intelligent grandchildren...all living close by in our lovely valley in Idaho. I continue to be grateful to God for all my blessings, and give Him credit for everything that is good in my life.
I hope you enjoy this book! I look forward to writing many more and welcome your comments. Please drop me a line and let me know what you think, suggest or did not care for....Hopefully it will be the beginning of a friendship.
